Our Reno tournament was delayed a couple of weeks due to the Caughlin Ranch Fire, but it was definitely the most successful tournament I have been involved in.
The kudos have to go out to Christy, the coach hosting this tournament, and her team. We had enough judges the entire tournament that we were able to single flight 3 of the 4 debate rounds on Saturday! It was terrific to have that many judges and finish the entire tournament, including awards, by 8:00pm. Thank you Reno Team!
The Sweeps race is taking shape, and the real battle is between the small schools. The large schools have the bowls almost sewn up for the grand sweeps already.
Only three more league tournaments left to change those numbers.
The sweeps race spreadsheet has been updated after the CVMS tournament. It was a great tournament, with lots of wonderful competition by our competitors.
I do have one request for all the coaches. Please double check the spreadsheet (found here) to make sure I put in the correct number of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place trophies for your team. I had a different report for this meet, a much better report, but it didn’t show the places, just the point summaries.

Our first meet of the season is over, and the sweepstakes points are calculated. Head on up to the “tournament results” page to see the spreadsheet and pretty graph of the Race.
As it stands right now, Reno and Spring Creek are in the lead with 156 and 125 points respectively, but Elko is on the hunt as well with 79.
As far as the small teams, North Valleys had 1 participant and 1 point! Carson High, Carson Valley Middle School, Pa Wa Lu Middle School and Damonte Ranch all got on the board as well.
It is still way early in the season for anything to be settled, but the spreadsheet will allow us to keep good track of all the ups and downs.
We are proudly moving forward with an online initiative to facilitate communication with our very geographically diverse membership.
